From July 29 to August 4, the Chinese Navy "Peace Ark" hospital ship has paid a friendly visit to Karachi Port, and successfully carried out activities of medical services for Pakistani people. The medical staff of the hospital ship provided outpatient and surgery services to Pakistani soldiers and civilians in the ship, and sent medical teams to the Pakistani Navy hospital. More than 2,000 patients were received and treated in total. To meet the needs of patients, the hospital ship extended the service time from seven hours a day to more than 10 hours. In addition, the hospital ship also sent staff to special schools for disabled children in Karachi, and donated toys to them. China and Pakistan have also successfully organized a medical forum and launched a joint drill on rescue operation in battlefield.
The "Peace Ark" has become the focus for local government, public and the media. The Chief of Staff of Pakistan Navy Admiral Sangdila boarded the hospital and attended the deck reception. Pakistani media reported the medical services activities, and praised the medical staff for their devotion and superb skills. It was reported by Express Tribune that the services provided by the hospital ship were free of charge to patients, especially poor patient.
