| Series of Programmes Planned to Celebrate Chinese National Day |

BEIJING, Sept 29 (APP): A series of month‑long programmes have been planned by the Government of Pakistan in coordination with PakistanÆs Embassy in Beijing and Chinese Embassy in Pakistan to mark the 60th anniversary of founding of PeopleÆs Republic of China in a befitting manner that will be celebrated on October 1. President Asif Ali Zardari to host a special reception on the occasion. A 7‑member Chinese delegation in this connection will specially leave here for Islamabad to attend the reception. It will travel to Lahore also where Punjab Government has prepared a series of programmes to celebrate the occasion. A 15‑member famous Chinese Cultural troupe currently visiting Pakistan will perform at the reception at Awan‑e‑Sadar and most of other events. Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani while inaugurating China Cultural Week in Islamabad said China and Pakistan would continue common endeavours for building a better future for its people and for promotion of international peace, stability and prosperity. Pakistan Embassy in Beijing celebrated the 60th anniversary by launching the book Gandhara and by organizing a photographic exhibition on the cultural heritage of Pakistan. Ambassador Masood Khan and Mr. Yang Wenchang, President of the Chinese Institute of Foreign Affairs launched the book and the exhibition. A delegation of 20 students from Sichuan University will be visiting Pakistan. All prominent national newspapers in Pakistan will bring out supplements while Radio and electronic media will air special programme and talk shows. Pakistan Television Corporation has telecast the interview of Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir. All the provincial governments have separately prepared programmes to celebrate the occasion. A ceremony will be held at International Islamic University (Faisal Mosque Campus) for launching of Pak‑China Institute. A Seminar on Bilateral Economic Cooperation had already jointly organized by All China Association of Entrepreneurs and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce on September 26. A Photographic Exhibition at PNCA on 60 years of Sino‑Pak Relations and Exhibition on Chinese wedding customs and screening of Chinese movies was also organized. As part of the celebration, a Joint Seminar on Pakistan‑China relations by Institute of Strategic Studies (ISS) will be held in which Minister of State for Foreign will be the Chief Guest. Speakers included Ambassador of China and former PakistanÆs Ambassador to China Akram Zaki and other prominent speakers. The Federal Minister for Postal Services will be the Chief Guest at the Issuance of Commemorative Stamp to mark the occasion. A grand reception has also been organized by Chinese Ambassador to celebrate the 60th anniversary of founding of PRC, while the Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir will separately host a reception. An award distribution ceremony for winners of the National Painting Competition will be held on October 17. The celebrations will culminate with the visit of 100 member Chinese youth delegation to Pakistan from 3‑10. |
