The time-tested friendship between China and Pakistan, which has remained constant while so much has changed globally and in the region, has no parallels in the world. Successive generations of leadership and people in both countries have continued to value and nourish this relationship which is anchored on mutual respect and trust and contributes to peace, stability and progress in our region.

His Excellency Mr. Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China, Secretary General of the Communist Party and the Chairman Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China has made outstanding contributions in cementing this traditional friendship.

President Hu Jintao is a leader of high international stature for whom the people of Pakistan have profound respect and affection.

In recognition of his visionary leadership and his splendid contributions in charting the cause of Pakistan-China relations in the 21st century, the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has been pleased to confer on His Excellency Mr. Hu Jintao the highest civil award of Nishan-i-Pakistan.
