The New Prime Minister of Pakistan Met with Ambassador Sun Weidong

On 3 August, Sun Weidong, Ambassador of China to Pakistan, called on Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Abbasi expressed his gratitude to the felicitation message by Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of China on his assumption of the office. He stated that China had always been a close friend of Pakistan, and the two countries shared fruitful cooperation. People of all walks of life of Pakistan welcomed and supported the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Pakistani government thanked China for its strong support to Pakistan's development, and would maintain continuity in its policies to push forward CPEC construction and practical cooperation in various fields between the two countries. The PM was looking forward to more outcomes yielded from friendly cooperation.

Ambassador Sun forwarded warm congratulation and felicitation from Premier Li Keqiang to Prime Minister Abbasi upon his assumption of the office. China-Pakistan all-weather friendship had withstood test of time, and Pakistan had always been a priority of China's foreign diplomacy. He believed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Abbasi, the Pakistani government would commit itself to maintaining unity and stability, promoting economic and social development. He further stated that China was willing to cooperate with Pakistan to maintain the good momentum of the development of China-Pakistan relations, push forward CPEC, and promote the in-depth development of all-weather strategic partnership between the two countries.
