Ambassador Yao Jing called on Speaker of National Assembly

On January 23, Ambassador Yao Jing called on Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

Ambassador Yao conveyed cordial greetings of Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China to Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, congratulated him for the successful accomplishment of the six-nation Speakers Conference held at the end of last year. Ambassador Yao appreciated the active role of the National Assembly in the political, social and economic development of the country. He believed that the National Assembly of Pakistan, emphasis on parliament diplomacy was conducive in promoting regional unity and cooperation.

Ambassador Yao said, the Belt and Road Initiative has brought important opportunities for China-Pakistan relations. The comprehensive cooperation including CPEC has been moving forward rapidly, which has strengthened the bond between the two countries. China highly values the National Assembly of Pakistan in promoting China-Pakistan friendship and cooperation, and looks forward to the continuous role of it.

Sadiq asked Ambassador Yao to convey his cordial compliments to H.E. Zhang Dejiang and thanked China for its support to Pakistan in successfully hosting the six-nation Speakers Conference. He termed the President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative one of the most brilliant international public goods for cooperation in this century. The Pakistan Government, Parliament and people have extended their full support to the Initiative, while CPEC widely hailed countrywide by the nation.

He said the National Assembly of Pakistan has maintained close exchanges and cooperation with the National People's Congress of China. The National Assembly was thankful to the Chinese Government for the grant to install solar panels in the Parliament house, making it the first green parliament in the world; a good symbol of the friendship between two countries. Pakistan-China friendship is an across-the-board consensus of the nation. The National Assembly of Pakistan is fully committed to develop bilateral relations and believes that it can bring more benefits to the people of the two countries and the region at large as well.
