ISLAMABAD, Apr 27 (APP): General Ehsan Ul Haq, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), who is on an official visit to China, met General Liang Guanglie, Chief of General Staff of the Peop les' Liberation Army. An MoU was also signed between the two sides for military assistance package for Pakistan, says an ISPR press release. General Ehsan Ul Haq is currently leading a high powered military delegation to China comprising representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Defence Production, Joint Staff Headquarters and three services for the 5th round of annual defence and security talks. During the talks top military leadership of the two countries expressed satisfaction over the on-going military cooperation and explored new avenues of further enhancing the relations. In his concluding remarks the CJCSC said that sharing of thoughts with Chinese friends on different areas of Pakistan-China relations, particularly on security perception and military cooperation was not only heartening but also reassuring. In this world of conflicts and dissentions Pakistan and China stand together as a symbol of mutual trust, good neighbourly relations and values. He added that this institutionalised interaction at highest military forum would pave way for furthering the partnership of the two countries. Earlier, on his arrival at the Headquarters of the Chinese Armed Forces, CJCSC was presented with a guard of honour and introduced to the military hierarchy of China. General Liang Guanglie also hosted a banquet in honour of General Ehsan Ul Haq and the Pakistani delegation. Earlier in the day, CJCSC along with thedelegation called on Dai Bingguo, Vice Minister and Director General of Central Foreign Affairs China and shared views on global, regional and national security perspective of both sides. CJCSC highlighted that Pakistan-China partnership is critical to ensure peace, security and stability in Asia. It has withstood the test of time and remained unshakable under the ever-changing international environment. It is reinforced by common goals, a sense of common destiny and is characterized by harmony, vibrancy and vitality. He added that today, the leadership and people of our two countries are determined to take the relations to an even higher level. |
