2007-06-20

JUNE 19, ISLAMABAD (the Daily Mail)--- If you really want to have authentic Chinese cuisine in Pakistan and if you really want to enjoy the real taste of China in Islamabad, you have to be a good friend of China and a close friend of the incumbent Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Lou Zhaohui as you can only find it on his dinning table.

Many were lackey to have tasted so on the Tuesday evening when Ambassador Luo invited friends over a dinner, coupled with a stunning and mesmerizing cultural show, depicting the depth of Pak-China Friendship. Besides Federal Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal, a large number ofIslamabad based diplomats, former Pakistani Ambassadors to China, former top officials of Pakistan's Foreign Office and local friends of China attended the reception.

The main topic amongst the guests' gossip remained the recent visit of a battery of US officials toPakistan and their meetings with top military leaderships. Many of them were taking it as a surprise development just a few months before the scheduled general elections in Pakistan and the current judicial crisis while to others were of the view that it was just a routine matter. The latest development at Palestine also found some part of the gossip while the riot by the anti-riots cops in Islamabad on Tuesday morning was also discussed slightly. However, the Pak-China Friendship and dramatically increasing rise in the ties between Pakistan and China and the rapidly flourishing economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries remained the most discussed topic.

On the other side, the host had made full preparations to make the evening a memorable one for his guests and at the same time, he did not forget to keep the factor of the depth of ever green and ever lasting Pakistan-China Friendship on the top. The cultural show was organized, without any doubt; keeping the Pak-China Friendship theme on top. The inclusion of famous Pakistani national song, sung by Chinese artists clearly depicted that what esteem the Chinese government and the Chinese Ambassador do give to their friendship withPakistan. Surrounded by a large number of foreign diplomats, the Pakistani guests were feeling very much honoured and excited as the show continued to depict the depth and concreteness of Pakistan China Friendship. Mr. Gao Feng of the Embassy, who was the stage secretary, played his role wonderfully by introducing the proceedings of the show and the artists clearly, with the backdrop of Pak-China friendship while the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy Mr. Shan Baoxiang remained busy in explaining to the guests the historic and cultural background of different cultural performances of the amazing Chinese artists from the province of Xinjiang. Apart from the cultural dances and singing of traditional Chinese and Pakistani songs, the artists also presented the stunning acrobatic performances that earned a lot of appreciation by the guests. It was crystal clear that the host, Ambassador Luo had decided to create a tug of war for the guests between the delicious authentic Chinese cuisine and the stunning cultural show but in the end, it turned out to be a win win situation for both the food and the show as though having their mouths full of water and their stomachs anxiously waiting for mouth watering Chinese dishes, the guests were yet not desiring an early end to the cultural show. And once the show ended the moth watering and mesmerizing fragrance of the Chinese dishes jolted the guests, who were still lost in the mind blowing performances of the Chinese artists and acrobats and they rushed towards the dinning area to delight their stomachs.

In Chinese, it is said that if some guests arrives and at that time the rain also starts falling, it means he has brought good luck and blessings. However, it seems that Ambassador Luo Zhaohui has brought enough good luck and blessings for his friends inPakistan as soon after his arrival, there had been enough rains here and at almost his every dinner, the rains fall to confirm the same. In the end, it can easily be said that there the Pak-China ties are constantly on the rise and Ambassador Lou Zahohui also means it.
