July 6, 2007 Mr. Luo Zhaohui, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, met Mr. Shaukat Nawaz Tahir, senior member of the National Disaster Management Authority, on July 6 and said that in view of the all-weather China-Pakistan friendship, for expressing the deep concern of the Chinese Government over the Pakistani people affected by the recent floods, the Chinese Government has decided to donate USD 200,000 in cash to the Government of Pakistan for its disaster relief efforts. For the same purpose, a batch of anti-malarial drugs worth RMB one million (about USD 130,000) was delivered to the Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan, by the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad on July 3, Mr. Luo added. The Ambassador hoped that these charitable contributions could help the flood-effected people of Pakistan to get back to normal life soon. Mr. Tahir said that the Pakistani Government and people were very grateful to the assistance, which demonstrated the great friendship of Pakistan and China once again. |
