Zardari Meets Chinese FM, Says Wants to Learn from Their Development

GUANGZHOU, China Aug 24 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Monday discussed bilateral and international issues and  expressed their resolve to further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries. The President said China is a model of development and his frequent visits to China are aimed at learning from their experiences and to implement that model in Pakistan to jumpstart the economic progress. 

 

He said that Pakistan particularly wants to learn the optimal use of water and development of hybrid seeds in collaboration with Chinese assistance.

He informed Jiechi that Chinese entrepreneurs can benefit from the liberal investment policies of Government of Pakistan.

During the meeting which took place at White Swan Hotel, where President Zardari is staying, there was a complete unanimity of views on various regional, bilateral and international issues.

President Zardari said that friendship with China is the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy and the government and the people highly regard their relations, which have withstood the test of time.

He also invited the President and the Prime Minister of China to visit Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said that his country holds Pakistan in great esteem and was proud that many Chinese companies were part of Pakistan’s economic development.

While conveying greetings from the President and the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister said President Zardari’s fourth visit demonstrates the importance Pakistan attaches to China.

He described relations with Pakistan as strategic partnership which he said China was keen to develop further.

He said his visit had given a pragmatic push forward to Pakistan‑China cooperation in a number of areas including energy, infrastructure development, hybrid seeds, dams and agriculture sector.

He assured the President that China will implement all those projects and continue to encourage investment in Pakistan in economic and social sectors.
