| Ambassador Khan Presents Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam Award to Prominent Chinese Scholar |

BEIJING, Aug 30 (APP): At an impressive ceremony Ambassador Masood Khan on behalf of President of Pakistan presented the award of Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam to distinguished Chinese leader and intellectual Mr. Zhou Muyao in Shanghai on Sunday.
The Government of Pakistan has announced the award of Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam for Zhou Muyao on March 23 this year. Before presenting the award, Ambassador Khan said that Zhou Muyao has made substantial contribution to foster people to people contacts between Pakistan and China and to strengthen Pakistan China relations. He made his contribution as a lawmaker and as President of Shanghai People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries. While accepting the award, Zhou Muyao said that this was an honour not only for him but for the people of Shanghai who had worked hard to strengthen Pakistan China relations. Zhou, who graduated from and taught at Shanghai Science and Technology University, imparted education to many science students from Pakistan. The first batch of Pakistani students enrolled in doctoral programs under his supervision. Zhou Muyao is currently the Chairman of Shanghai People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries . He has also served as Vice Chairman Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress, as well as Vice Mayor and Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal Government. The ceremony was held at the Consulate General of Pakistan Shanghai and was attended by Acting Consul General Mr. Mahmood Akhtar, President of Shanghai Institutes for International Studies Mr. Wang Jiemian, and Mr. Wang Xiaoshu, Executive Vice Chairman of Shanghai People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries. Prominent Chinese academic and government officials, Pakistanis living and working in Shanghai attended the ceremony. |
