| China Plays Key Role in Electing Pakistan as Member of Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union: Murtaza Sola |

BEIJING, Oct 8 (APP): The Director General of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Murtaza Solangi said here Thursday that China played an important role for getting unanimously electing Pakistan as member of Administrative Council of Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. Solangi talking to APP, while expressing his extreme delight over the election said that China alongwith regional countries worked hard for lobbying for Pakistan for getting elected as member of this august body. “We told you that our friendship is higher than the mountains,” the Chinese delegation told Mr. Solangi after election. Sri Lanka nominated PBC for the council membership while Peoples Republic of China endorsed the nomination. No organization raised objection over PBC election and none fielded any candidate over the council seat vacated by India who were absent on the occasion. Solangi pointed out that along with China, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan evinced keen interest in Pakistan’s election. The PBC will play a proactive role in the Union, Solangi said adding that he plans to hold not only the Administrative Council but also the General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union meeting in Pakistan. Highlighting the importance of the election, Solangi said that it will help greatly bringing improvement in PBC programmes, broadcasting system as well as acquiring latest technical knowledge as there are number of prominent broadcasters who are its member. Murtaza Solangi said, the unanimous election to the council displayed trust and confidence of the international community in Pakistan’s democracy. PBC will serve the administrative council for three years in the 56 countries’ body involving 200 organizations, beaming 3.7 billion people in the world. |
