| HEC scholarship students win highest research awards from top ranking Chinese university |

BEIJING, Nov 5 (APP): Two Pakistani students studying in prestigious Tsinghua University here have won highest research awards 2009. Engr. Zeeshan Nawaz and Javed Iqbal Saggu were awarded for their significant contribution in Chemical Reaction Engineering and Nano material Physics, espectively. It is for the first time in the history of Tsinghua University that the two Pakistani researchers were awarded Tsinghua University highest Research Award (Category I), Eng Zeeshan told APP Thursday. The students were granted scholarships for Ph.D studies by Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan in 2007. “We are proud for winning these awards and acknowledge HEC support”, he said. Engr. Zeeshan has invented novel catalysts for direct propane dehydrogenation to propylene using bi model fluidized bed reactor (GSS FBR). Javed Saggu has done a lot of research on the Zinc Oxide based Spintronics nano materials and tailored its band gap to visible light range, for its activation in sun light as photocatalyst to overcome environmental pollution. The awards were granted on the basis of excellent contribution in their respective field of research. Meanwhile, Chairman HEC Javaid R. Laghari and Executive Director Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi have highly appreciated their efforts.”Well done and Congratulations. We are all proud of you. You have indeed made Pakistan proud,” they said in their congratulatory messages to the students. Tsinghua University in Beijing is one the most prestigious research institutes in the fields of Engineering, Science and Technology. The university is not only recognized for its highest standard in the field of education in China, but also around the world. Most of the Chinese top leadership including President Hu Jintao has graduated from Tsinghua University. The University appreciates their researchers by awarding a number of awards in different categories in their respective disciplines.
