BEIJING, June 29 -- China's deputy UN ambassador, Zhang Yishan has appealed to the international community for increasing the official development fund and reducing debt of developing countries.

Ambassador Zhang spoke Tuesday at a high level meeting on raising the fund at the 59th Session of United Nations General Assembly.

Zhang Yishan notes that the ultimate way of raising money for developing countries is to enhance their countries' own abilities of attracting aid, and he calls on the international community to help underdeveloped countries establish institutions and create a better environment for development.

The ambassador says the world should allow underdeveloped countries to choose their own developing policies and encourage foreign direct investment to flow into those countries.
